I heard the program aired on radio 4 this Wednesday lunchtime, about the operations and practices of the local waste composting industry and in particular the problems and risks of handling animal biproducts. I must congratulate Paul Robinson and the others on the panel for cutting straight through the froth and jargon and exposing the issues in plain English. It is clear this is something the many regulators involved fail to grasp.

It seems apparant that the officers of the various regulatory bodies that are tasked with monitoring these operators are either:
1. Increadibly nieve
2. Grossly incompetant
3. Strictly controlled by their masters who prefer not to divulge their standing orders.
4. Or a combination of the above.

One hopes that these people have listened to the Radio 4 Broadcast and might stop to think how bungling and pathetic they appear to the residents of the villages of Eastrington, Spaldington and Howden.

Come on Boys and Girls at the EA, Local Authority, Environmental Health and State Vets service, get in there and do your job, these composters are giving you the 'Harvey Smith' while there is an environmental disaster brewing here!- It might earn you all some overtime when the disease or major pollution incident occurs.
However,I for one, didn't like watching the coverage and consequence of the several foot and mouth outbreaks over the last few years because your people were too soft on these shoddy Get-Rich-Quick Cowboys.
